Default mysqld.exe and dumprep.exe - mysqld disconnected error

Issue: When the computer boots up, system spends lots of time and almost not responsive. Microsoft Error report popup window displayed frequently with the mysqld.exe error. When check the task manager, dumprep.exe is always running but CPU usage of this process is less than 10%. System is very very slow and error reporting window is continuouly brought up.

Diagnostics: Have you ever upgraded MySQL before? Did you follow the right step to upgrade the MySQL? If the installation was correct, you need to check the applications using MySQL. Most of time, if the applciation is pointing to the wrong place to execute MySQL, mysqld.exe is going to fail.

Suggested solution:
Check the following information -
From the my.ini file check the MySQL path is correct.
#Path to installation directory. All paths are usually resolved relative to this.
basedir="C:/Program Files/MySQL/MySQL Server 5.1/"

#Path to the database root
datadir="C:/Program Files/MySQL/MySQL Server 5.1/Data/"

If this path is not same with the MySQL installed directory, MySQL is going to fail definitely.

If you are using vBulletin, check the above information from the config.php file under the includes directory. Many times, it's so easy to forget to change the following values after the MySQL upgrade.

$config['Mysqli']['ini_file'] = 'c:\program files\MySQL\MySQL Server 5.1\my.ini';

Be sure above value is the same with your my.ini directory.

Hope this info helps.
